Doughmestic Baked Goods: A Local Homestead Bakery
Last year, our friend Bailey reached out to the team to help create a brand for her new endeavor: a homestead bakery. When we met with her for a discovery meeting, she brought sourdough loaves for our team to try. Each loaf had her signature scores in the crust and had a beautiful crumb when we sliced into them. We knew immediately that helping her market her product would be easy.
As we discussed her vision for Doughmestic, Bailey spoke about her passion for baking and sharing her creations, especially with her community. The name, “Doughmestic,” was her original idea; it was a nod to the of ups and downs she experienced that led her to where she is, and the contentment she has now in her life with her husband and kids. A nod to her past, Doughmestic stands as a testament of growth and a symbol of hope for the future.
The brand mark we developed was created to include little nods to her craft: The capital “D” in Doughmestic was custom lettered and inspired by the shape of a traditional bread dough whisk, while the tittle of the “I” is placed by a rendering of wheat. The color palette came easy as we wanted to embody the feelings people experienced when tasting her product: warmth, joy, peace. Our team also developed custom illustrations of her products to showcase the variety of products she was baking.
In the end, what came about was a cohesive brand that reflected Bailey’s heart and incredible energy, as well as her baking philosophy: bread is better when you share it with loved ones.
